From the Desk of Jeff Cohen, CEO
It is with tremendous gratitude that we at Kline Galland would like to honor and celebrate Gary and Karen Schwartz for a transformational contribution given to our organization to rename our Independent/Assisted Living Facility, the Mary Schwartz Summit, previously known as The Summit at First Hill. This wonderful gift ushers in a new era at Kline Galland. The donation will help us address rising health care costs and support critical operational expenses throughout the Kline Galland continuum of services. It is because of generous donors like Gary and Karen that Kline Galland is able to continue offering an unprecedented level of dignified senior care.
Gary and Karen Schwartz are both Seattle natives, and the Schwartz family have been perennial supporters of Kline Galland. They are deep believers in the organization’s mission and dedication to treating our seniors with dignity and respect, and have entrusted Kline Galland to provide quality health care for their own family members. Gary’s mother, Mary, who emigrated from Russia in 1912 and spent her life actively involved in Seattle’s Jewish community, lived at the Kline Galland Home. His aunt lived at the Mary Schwartz Summit, and both Karen and her mother received rehabilitation through Kline Galland’s Transitional Care Unit. Gary has also served on the board of directors for Kline Galland.
As lifelong members of the Seattle Jewish community, the Schwartz family was motivated to place this gift when they recognized Kline Galland could uniquely meet the healthcare needs of the community’s aging population. With the current healthcare conditions, an aging population and many senior care facilities shuttering, our invaluable relationships with champions like Gary and Karen Schwartz are vital for the future of our senior care facilities.
With this gift, we are able to continue investing in the future of Kline Galland. We are grateful for the support of the Schwartz family, as well as our greater community.
