Announcing the Marty Bender Family Garden at Kline Galland Home
June 17, 2022 | Kline Galland Home, Other News
This month, we celebrated the grand opening of the Marty Bender Family Garden at Kline Galland Home. Built in partnership with students at the University of Washington School of Landscape Architecture, the garden was made possible through a generous gift from Josh and Talia Bender in honor of their late uncle, Marty Bender.
Marty was a beloved member of Kline Galland’s community who loved connecting with people through nature. This garden will honor Marty’s love for the outdoors while also creating a safe space for multiple generations to connect and share an inspiring experience together.
We broke ground on the project this spring and the team completed the garden efficiently and on time. It began as a vision of the students at the University of Washington School of Landscape Architecture and was led by Professor Daniel Winterbottom, RLA, FASLA, a landscape architect, founder of Winterbottom Design Inc., and co-author of the book Healing Gardens.
The Marty Bender Family Garden gives our residents and employees a beautiful space to enjoy the healing aspect of nature without leaving Kline Galland Home. We cannot express how much this means to them and how grateful we are to the Bender family and the University of Washington School of Landscape Architecture program for creating this therapeutic space.
