Victor and Regina Amira met each other through friends at the movies. Victor, a local Seattleite, grew up in Seattle’s Central District – which was a Jewish neighborhood at the time. Regina, on the other hand, had quite the journey to the Emerald City. Born on the Island of Rhodes, she fled Nazi occupation in 1939, eventually relocating to the United States when she was only 14 years old.
The couple got engaged in 1952 when Victor and Regina were 21 and 20 respectively. “We grew up together. We were just innocent kids.” Regina told The Seattle Times.
Today, they have three daughters, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The couple planned to celebrate their anniversary with a big party, but family members were unable to make it. Instead, Victor and Regina had a very special celebration with friends and loved ones who live with them at Mary Schwartz Summit.
To celebrate Victor and Amira’s milestone, reporter Karen Ducey with The Seattle Times wrote an article detailing the couple’s amazing history, which includes a wedding two days after Victor’s release from the army in 1952. Please click here to read the full article.
We are honored that the Amiras are part of the Kline Galland family and wish them many happy anniversaries to come.
