Woven in Gratitude

At Kline Galland, every patient and family we serve has a story to tell. These stories are the threads that weave the fabric of our 111-year legacy—a tapestry of compassion, dignity, and community. As we step into 2025, we’re honored to share some of the heartfelt experiences from our latest publication, Chai Lites Winter 2025. These narratives showcase the profound impact of exceptional care delivered by exceptional people.
A new lease on life
When Erwin Wood arrived at Kline Galland, he was grappling with grief, depression, and the physical pain of degenerative disc disease. Walking seemed like an impossible dream. Yet, through the unwavering dedication of his care team, Erwin found strength he didn’t know he had.
With a touch of humor—like the “speed limit 10” sign on his walker—and a lot of encouragement, Erwin transitioned from excruciating pain to daily independence. Today, his children marvel at the vibrant, transformed man he has become. “They taught me a new life,” Erwin says, reflecting on his miraculous recovery.
Compassion in the hardest moments
For Michelle Pool, Kline Galland has been a constant source of care and comfort through life’s most challenging chapters. From the end-of-life care for her mother-in-law to hospice services for her husband, Steve Pool, Michelle experienced the organization’s unwavering support and compassion firsthand.
Michelle recalls how Kline Galland’s hospice team brought dignity, peace, and personal connection to Steve’s final months, even amid the difficulties of COVID-19. Their dedication left a lasting impact on her family, and the grief support group Michelle joined afterward became a vital part of her healing journey. “They gave us peace of mind during the hardest days of our lives,” she shares.
Bridging the gaps
Debra Schwartz’s time in Kline Galland’s rehabilitation program was transformative. After experiencing a health setback, she recalls the care she received: “The rehab was fantastic. I appreciate the frequency of the therapy and the attentiveness of the CNAs. They were always there when I needed them, which meant a lot to me.”
Reflecting on the importance of familial and community support, Debra felt compelled to act. “Their support was my key to recovery,” she explains. She recently established the Schwartz-Alexander Unmet Needs Fund to cover essential items and necessities for Home Health, Home Care and Hospice
patients within Kline Galland Benaroya Community Services. Her hope is that individuals will then be able to focus on healing. Learn more and donate here.
