Bringing Jewish Senior Living to Seattle’s First Hill
Kline Galland began with the goal of creating an independent and assisted living community in 1992 after comparing senior health care trends with the rising community needs. Seed money allowed for construction of an elegant high rise building in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood and The Summit at First Hill officially opened its doors in 2001. Kline Galland was soon established as a leader in senior care in the Puget Sound region.
In 2022, The Summit at First Hill officially changed its name to the Mary Schwartz Summit to honor of a generous $5 million donation from local philanthropists Gary and Karen Schwartz. The new name honors Gary’s mother, Mary Schwartz, who was a resident of the Kline Galland Home until her death in 1996. The Schwartz family is affiliated with Herzl Ner Tamid, Congregation Bikur Cholim, and Temple De Hirsh Sinai, and Mary was an active supporter of City of Hope and Temple Sisterhood.
The Mary Schwartz Summit is a senior-care community that offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Support. It is also the only Jewish retirement community in Washington State.
