Wellness has always been a fundamental part of life at the Mary Schwartz Summit in Seattle. Incorporating wellness programs into our residents’ daily lives helps improve both physical and mental health. To provide a more comprehensive retirement living experience at The Summit, we continue to broaden the breadth and depth of our wellness services. We have on-staff professionals as well as visiting practitioners in a variety of disciplines to ensure our residents have access to programs that best meet their needs.
Our Wellness Staff:
- Registered Nurse (RN) – The RN is the first point of contact for our independent residents, providing basic medical care and assessment without the need to leave the building. The RN offers blood pressure and weight monitoring clinics twice weekly at no charge. Other services available on a fee-for-service basis include medication management, wound care, and consultation with physicians and specialists.
- Social Worker (SW) – Many seniors need some support as they transition from their long-term homes to a retirement community. Experiencing a sense of loss – whether from downsizing, moving away from an established community, the death of a partner, or change in perceived independence – is normal. The Summit’s social worker is available to all residents and families and can help them with the transitions and uncertainties of life. The SW is available to meet one-on-one, in groups, and/or with family members.
- Registered Dietitian – The most recent addition to our team is a nutrition counselor or dietitian. This team member meets individually with residents to plan diets aligned with their nutritional goals or a doctor’s recommendation. Nutritional information on menus, educations, sessions, and one-to-one counseling are available to all residents of The Summit at no additional cost.
- Fitness Coordinator – In addition to group classes like yoga and Zumba, one-to-one personal training is available to all residents at no additional charge, five days a week. Our fitness coordinator provides equipment coaching in our Fitness Center.
