Memory Support, a specialized community located on the entire second floor, is part of our acclaimed Assisted Living program. Skilled professionals offer support and care to help residents make the connections they need to manage their world by focusing on their best abilities. The Summit’s approach to Memory Support focuses on what residents can do (their choices and quality of life) – not on what they can no longer do.
Between caregivers and activity experts, the staff is with residents throughout the day. Evidence-based practices remove obstacles, minimize challenges, reduce frustrations and relieve anxiety – all designed to make life simpler, more enjoyable and more rewarding.
Programming is essential and integral with an ongoing and robust array of activities designed to stimulate brain function and provide residents with a sense of self-worth and accomplishment including:
- Art, music, and massage therapy
- Collaborations with the Frye Art Museum and Seattle Theatre Group
- “Time Slips”™ storytelling
- Individualized iPod music programs
- Horticultural Therapy
- Live musical performances
- Weekly challah baking
- Cooking and arts & crafts groups
- Shabbat and holiday services and celebrations
- Exercise classes and walking club
- Supervised weekly outings such as trips to the Woodland Park Zoo, coffee shops, parks
Dining choices are abundant with plated visual cues presented to enable residents to easily choose while enjoying a peaceful private dining room.
The Summit’s Chai Club Memory Support Community consists of 24 apartments (studio and one-bedrooms) – all with private bathrooms, walk-in showers and kitchenettes. Residents can spend time in their private apartments when they desire but are encouraged to engage in purposeful activities with community members and staff.
Exceptional care by exceptional people … every day, in every way.
